Each year, CAPE selects 3 charities: local, provincial and global, and engages in activities with students to support the development of citizenry skills as well as personal skills such as empathy and altruism.

Local

In the first term we focus on local charities. For years, CAPE has recognized the work of the Medicine Hat Food Bank and Pheonix House (Women’s Shelter) to support families.
One of our biggest charity activities is the collection of items for each of these organizations throughout December. This is known as Stack the Sleigh.

COVID-19 disrupted our annual efforts. However students collected 1346 items for distribution to these two organizations. Students also collected $806.80 and the school matched these dollars. The Food Bank and the Women’s Shelter each received $806.80.

Provincial

CAPE has engaged in activities to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  In 2020-2021, CAPE once again took part in various activities to raise money to support this organization.

National

CAPE also supports national and global organizations, such as the Global Water Project through the Samaritan’s Purse, Read to Change The World ($8630.50), The Canadian Cancer Society ($5,978), UNICEF ($561.00) and Terry Fox ($156.00)
